Collecting Vintage Weiss Costume Jewelry

Albert Weiss started his career as a jewelry designer in the 1930's for the Coro Jewelry Company. After honing his skills there as a jewelry designer he ventured off creating Albert Weiss Jewelry Company in 1942 just as the Art Deco movement was coming to an end. You will see a lot of Weiss jewelry in the Art Deco period design as well as mid-century as he continued into the 1950s and beyond.

He imported his rhinestones from Austria and manufactured his jewelry by hand. He also featured the "Black Diamond" collection which featured smoky colored rhinestones. As well as a pioneer in Aurora Borealis rhinestones which changed different colors with the light it was exposed to.

He handed the company off to his son who ran it until 1971 when he closed it for financial reasons. Today the Albert Weiss name has new life and are creating some vintage look items but not a elegant as the vintage pieces.
