1960's Plastic Action Figure Collection

The 1950 & 60's was a  great time to be a kid, although today the toys of the wild west and military action figures would disdained by many parents of today. When you think action figures especially military you think Hasbro's GI Joe but there were army men to play with way before Joe arrived on the scene in 1964.

A lot of these figures were sold in Five and Dime stores across the country. Tim Mee Toys packaged their small format figures in plastic packages. Tim Mee was coined the king of five and dime stores.

Both Marx and Tim Mee Toys were delivering the action figure fix to millions of kids whether it be cowboys and Indians or army men and they came in small format 2" and large format 6".

A lot of these figures were destroyed by little brothers who during their teething period would chew an arm or a gun off. We still see these at flea markets and garage sales today.

Marx also manufactured these in Mexico as we have found some and are marked.
